Florida Southern Men's Lacrosse Surges In The Second Half To Down Lenoir-Rhyne, 11-6

Lakeland, Fla. – The Florida Southern Men's Lacrosse Team (4-2) took control after intermission to register an 11-6 victory over Lenoir-Rhyne (1-3) Sunday afternoon at Bryant Stadium.

The Mocs' Tyler Kopen (Wynnewood, Pa.) led all scorers with five goals while Lucas Claude (Calgary, Alberta, CANADA) added two goals and four assists as Florida Southern outscored Lenoir-Rhyne by a 6-0 count in the decisive third period to take the win.

Lenoir-Rhyne was led by junior attacker Mike Hanlon (Haymarket, Va.) with two goals and an assist in the losing effort.  Hanlon has a team-leading 10 goals on the year.

Hanlon scored with 5:38 left before halftime to tie the score at three but Florida Southern responded with seven straight goals to put the game away.

Florida Southern held the advantage in shots taken (59-55) while Lenoir-Rhyne led the way in ground balls (39-37).

Florida Southern's goalkeeper, Matt Lalli (New Milford, Conn.), earned the win after making 22 saves on the day while Lenoir-Rhyne sophomore Ryan Crompton (Frederick, Md.) suffered the loss in goal.  Crompton stopped 15 shots on the afternoon.

Lenoir-Rhyne hosts Lake Erie on Wednesday night at 7:00 p.m., for its home opener at Moretz Stadium.  Florida Southern hosts Chestnut Hill Thursday afternoon at 1:00 p.m.
