Lenoir-Rhyne Baseball Has Its Way With Limestone, 21-3 Road Victory

Gaffney, S.C. – The Lenoir-Rhyne Baseball Team (22-8) was simply too much for Limestone (12-19) in a 21-3 victory Tuesday afternoon in a non-conference regional game at Founders FCU Stadium.

Sophomore catcher Cole Fowler (Dobson, N.C.) hit a grand slam while senior first baseman Colby Dishmond (Statesville, N.C.) added a two-run home run and four runs batted in to lead the Bears to their second consecutive victory over the Saints this season.

Lenoir-Rhyne raced to a 15-0 advantage highlighted by a seven-run sixth inning before Limestone was able to cross the plate.

Lenoir-Rhyne freshman outfielder Grant Fuller (Simpsonville, S.C.) added three hits and two runs batted in as the Bears finished with 20 hits and won for the fifth time in the last six contests.

Lenoir-Rhyne freshman Hunter Martin (Stanfield, N.C.) improved to 2-2 on the season after limiting Limestone to just one run in five innings of work with three strikeouts.

For the Saints, Mark Burnside (York, Pa.) fell to 3-2 after taking the loss.  At the plate, Garrett Lowery (Dallas, N.C.) finished with two hits with a run-scoring single in the setback.

Lenoir-Rhyne remains on the road to take on Belmont Abbey, ranked No. 16 in NCAA Division II, on Wednesday in Belmont, N.C., beginning at 4:00 p.m.  Limestone faces King in Bristol, Tenn., on Friday at 2:30 p.m.
