Brevard, N.C. – The Lenoir-Rhyne Women's Lacrosse Team (7-5, 4-0) stayed unbeaten in South Atlantic Conference play with a 19-7 win over Brevard (5-4, 1-3) Monday afternoon at Tornados Field.
Lenoir-Rhyne sophomore midfielder Aubriana Benedetto (Rochester, N.Y.) finished with six goals and four assists while sophomore attacker Brooke Ouderkirk (Syracuse, N.Y.) scored five times as the Bears moved to the top of the league standings with the victory.
Brevard's Caitlyn Nemeth (Old Bridge, N.J.) scored four goals while Shelby Klotz (Farmington, Minn.) added three scores in the setback.
Lenoir-Rhyne sophomore attacker Christine Faircloth (Winter Park, Fla.) scored the first two goals of the game and the Bears never looked back as they took a 9-4 lead into halftime.
Faircloth and junior attacker Torrey Schwitkis (San Diego, Calif.) both finished with three goals for Lenoir-Rhyne as Schwitkis increased her team-leading total on the year to 32 scores.
Lenoir-Rhyne held the advantage in both shots taken (36-14) and ground balls (32-19) while sophomore Ines Flueck (Coppell, Texas) earned the victory in goal after making three saves in the first half. Brevard's goalkeeper, Shelby Arsenault (Shallow Lake, Ontario, CANADA), made 10 saves but suffered the loss.
Lenoir-Rhyne next hosts Newberry in a South Atlantic Conference game on Wednesday, April 6, at 4:00 p.m., at Moretz Stadium. Brevard faces Lincoln Memorial on the road on Saturday in Harrogate, Tenn., beginning at 1:00 p.m.
