Lenoir-Rhyne Baseball Rebounds With 7-2 Road Victory Over King

Bristol, Tenn. – The Lenoir-Rhyne Baseball Team (16-5) picked up a road victory over King (Tenn.) (8-12) by a 7-2 score on Wednesday afternoon in a regional contest at Tornado Field.

The Bears took control early thanks to a three-run first inning highlighted by a two-run single from senior designated hitter Will Thompson (Spartanburg, S.C.).

Lenoir-Rhyne, which never trailed on the contest, added four runs in the top of the seventh which included a two-run single from senior first baseman Colby Dishmond (Statesville, N.C.).

Six pitchers for the Bears limited the Tornado to just two runs while freshman Brett Fulk (East Bend, N.C.) (1-0) was credited with the win.  King's Brandon Barbour (Union Hall, Va.) fell to 1-1 after suffering the loss.

King's Preston Douglas (Kingsport, Tenn.) drove in both runs to lead the Tornado offensively despite the loss.

Lenoir-Rhyne also received two runs scored and two hits from sophomore third baseman Tripp Hamrick (Ellenboro, N.C.).

Lenoir-Rhyne returns home to face Newberry in a South Atlantic Conference game on Friday night at 6:00 p.m., at Bears Field.  King takes on Erskine in Due West, S.C., on Friday afternoon beginning at 2:30 p.m., in a Conference Carolinas game.
