Harrogate, Tenn. – Lenoir-Rhyne (27-13, 8-9) and Lincoln Memorial (24-14, 10-7) split a South Atlantic Conference baseball doubleheader Sunday afternoon at Hennon Field. The Bears won the first game by an 8-5 score while the Railsplitters prevailed in the nightcap, 11-2.
Game One – Lenoir-Rhyne 8,

Lenoir-Rhyne junior third baseman David Newcomer (Archdale, N.C.) broke a five-all tie with a two-run double in the top of the seventh inning as the Bears came out on top.
Junior catcher Garrett Vaughn (Charlotte, N.C.) added a solo home run and drove in two runs for the Bears, who also rallied from a 5-3 deficit to take the victory.
Lenoir-Rhyne junior John Curtis (Lenoir, N.C.) (1-0) pitched the final five-plus innings and earned the victory. Curtis allowed just one run while striking out eight batters.
For Lincoln Memorial, Russell Clark (Wexford, Pa.) finished with two runs scored and a run batted in while Dominic Morabito (Vienna, Va.) fell to 2-3 after taking the loss.

Game Two – Lincoln Memorial 11, Lenoir-Rhyne 2 (seven innings)
Clark broke a 2-2 tie with a grand slam in the bottom of the fifth inning which proved to be the game-winning hit and the Railsplitters put the contest away with a five-run sixth inning to salvage the split.
Clark finished with five runs batted in while Peyton Sawyer (Knoxville, Tenn.) cleared the bases with a double in the victory for Lincoln Memorial. The Railsplitters' Ethan Elliott (Knoxville, Tenn.) improved to 8-1 after going the distance.
For Lenoir-Rhyne, senior designated hitter Will Thompson (Spartanburg, S.C.) and sophomore catcher Cole Fowler (Dobson, N.C.) drove in runs but junior Thomas St. Clair (Winston-Salem, N.C.) (1-3) took the setback.
