Harrogate, Tenn. – The Lincoln Memorial Men's Soccer Team (5-3, 2-2) shut out Lenoir-Rhyne (4-3-1, 1-2), 1-0, Saturday afternoon on the road in a South Atlantic Conference match.
The Railsplitters scored the lone goal of the contest at the 24:14 mark when Felipe de Sousa (São Bernardo do Campo, Brazil) found the back of the net off a pass from Danilo da Silva (Campinas, Brazil), who was credited with the assist.
Lenoir-Rhyne lost despite holding a 17-12 edge in shots taken while junior Zach King (Altamonte Springs, Fla.) suffered the loss in goal despite allowing just one score while making four saves.
Lincoln Memorial's August Ahlin (Stockholm, SWEDEN) notched his first shutout of the year, totaling three saves in the win.
Lenoir-Rhyne returns home to play Carson-Newman in a South Atlantic Conference match Wednesday at 4:30 p.m., at the Moretz Sports – Athletic Complex. Lincoln Memorial travels to Wingate, N.C., to face Wingate Saturday at 4:30 p.m.
