Hickory, N.C. – The Lenoir-Rhyne Men's Soccer Team (5-3-1, 2-2) took control early with three goals in the first 16 minutes of the contest on its way to a South Atlantic Conference victory over Carson-Newman (4-4, 1-3), 4-2, Wednesday afternoon at the Moretz Sports – Athletic Complex.

Lenoir-Rhyne junior forward Ismael Noumansana (Reims, FRANCE) scored the first of his two goals just 9:42 into the match on a penalty kick and the Bears led by a 3-0 advantage at the 15:34 mark of the first half when Noumansana finished off a pass from junior defender Sercan Cihan (Sundern, GERMANY).

Noumansana has a team-leading eight goals on the year and his second score of the contest came just a minute after a goal from sophomore midfielder Romain Lopez (Cannes, FRANCE).

Carson-Newman's Marius Staalby (Trondheim, NORWAY) scored both of the Eagles' goals – one on a corner kick in the first half and one on a penalty kick after intermission – but the deficit was too great for the visitors to overcome.

Lenoir-Rhyne junior midfielder Jens Roessler (Ettlingen, GERMANY) rounded out the scoring for the Bears in the 71st minute while junior goalkeeper Zach King (Altamonte Springs, Fla.) earned the win after making six saves.

The Eagles lost despite holding a 22-14 advantage in shots taken while Joe Boyd (Nottingham, ENGLAND) made three saves but took the loss in goal.

Lenoir-Rhyne remains at home to face Queens in a South Atlantic Conference match Saturday at 5:00 p.m., at the Moretz Sports – Athletic Complex.  Carson-Newman, meanwhile, hosts Anderson in a league match Saturday night beginning at 7:30 p.m.
