Lenoir-Rhyne Women’s Basketball Stifles Mars Hill, 64-41

Hickory, N.C. – The Lenoir-Rhyne Women's Basketball Team (10-6, 6-4) continued its impressive defensive performance with a 64-41 victory over Mars Hill (2-14, 0-10) Saturday afternoon in a South Atlantic Conference game at Shuford Memorial Gymnasium.

Lenoir-Rhyne junior guard Justyce Swango (Virginia Beach, Va.) scored a game-high 15 points – all in the second half – while senior forward Brooke Robinson (Vale, N.C.) added 11 points and seven rebounds in the victory.

Mars Hill's Madison Ervin (Morganton, N.C.) also scored 15 points but the Lions were held to just 32 percent (16-of-50) from the field and lost its ninth straight game.

Lenoir-Rhyne took control early, leading by a 29-12 advantage at halftime, and never looked back.  The Bears also improved to 8-0 at home and won their 15th consecutive game at Shuford Memorial Gymnasium dating back to last year.

The Bears also hit eight three-pointers and held a 36-28 edge on the boards.  In addition, 12 players scored Lenoir-Rhyne as the home team picked up its second straight victory.

Lenoir-Rhyne next travels to Hartsville, S.C., to take on Coker in a South Atlantic Conference game while Mars Hill hosts Brevard in a league contest.  Both games take place on Wednesday beginning at 6:00 p.m.
