Lenoir-Rhyne Football Rolls To 35-7 Road Win Over Limestone

Gaffney, S.C. – The Lenoir-Rhyne Football Team (3-4, 2-3) bounced back again with a decisive victory over Limestone (3-4, 2-2), 35-7, Saturday evening at the Reservation at Gaffney High School in a South Atlantic Conference game.

STATS OF THE GAME:
•    Lenoir-Rhyne rushed 50 times for 199 yards and was led by freshman running back Xzavion Huff (Maiden, N.C.) and sophomore tailback Nelson Brown (Salisbury, Md.) with 85 and 78 yards, respectively.  Huff scored on a 39-yard touchdown run while Brown scored twice in the win.
•    LR sophomore safety Landon Scott (Moultrie, Ga.) returned an interception 95 yards for a score late in the first quarter:  the longest by a Bears player since All-American Michael Green returned a pick 100 yards to pay dirt in a playoff game on November 17, 2012, against Fort Valley State.  Scott finished with two interceptions for 137 yards.
•    Lenoir-Rhyne sophomore tight end Sam Camargo (Kissimmee, Fla.) caught his team-leading fifth touchdown of the season:  a 16-yarder in the second quarter.
•    Lenoir-Rhyne sophomore linebacker Quentin Hayes (Powder Springs, Ga.) was a star on defense, finishing with nine tackles, an interception, a forced fumble and a fumble recovery.
•    Limestone's Jerko'ya Patton (Charlotte, N.C.) scored the lone touchdown of the game for the Saints in the second quarter on a 38-yard run.
 
BEYOND THE BOXSCORE:
•    Lenoir-Rhyne is 2-1 on the road this year and held an opponent to seven points for the second time this fall.
•    LR picked off four passes for the first time since 2012.

UP NEXT:
Lenoir-Rhyne will not play again until Saturday, October 28, against UNC Pembroke in Pembroke, N.C., beginning at 4:00 p.m.  Limestone travels to Newberry, S.C., to take on Newberry next Saturday at 4:00 p.m.
