Lenoir-Rhyne Men’s Soccer Takes Down No. 24 Wingate, 1-0

Wingate, N.C. – The Lenoir-Rhyne Men's Soccer Team (9-2-3, 5-2-2 SAC) handed nationally-ranked and defending NCAA Division II National Champion Wingate (10-4-1, 7-1-1) a 1-0 loss Saturday night in a South Atlantic Conference match at Pride Park.

The Bulldogs, ranked No. 24 in NCAA Division II, suffered their first loss in league play this year.

STATS OF THE MATCH:
•   The lone goal of the match came courtesy of Lenoir-Rhyne junior forward Ignacio de Goya (Madrid, SPAIN) at the 15:37 mark of the first half.
•   de Goya, who now has a team-leading 11 goals on the year, beat out three defenders for the score.  The goal was assisted by Lenoir-Rhyne junior defender Ruben Morillas (Pamplona, SPAIN).
•   Lenoir-Rhyne senior Zach King (Altamonte Springs, Fla.) earned his seventh shutout on the year and lowered his goals-against average to 0.68.  Wingate's goalkeeper, Pablo Jara (Santiago, CHILE), suffered the loss despite allowing just one goal in addition to three saves.
•   Leonir-Rhyne held the edge in shots taken, 18-6.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE:
•   The Bears have won four straight matches and are unbeaten in their last eight contests (5-0-3).
•   Lenoir-Rhyne snapped Wingate's 18-match league regular season unbeaten streak dating back to 2015.
•   The Bears have limited their opponents to one or less goals for the 12th time out of 14 matches this year.
