Hickory, N.C. – The Lenoir-Rhyne Men's Soccer Team (10-2-3, 6-2-2) celebrated Senior Day in style with a hard-fought, 4-3 victory over Newberry (5-8-3, 3-6-1) Saturday afternoon in a South Atlantic Conference match at the Moretz Sports – Athletic Complex. The Bears will now enter the league tournament on a five-match winning streak.

STATS OF THE MATCH:
• Four players scored for the Bears, who won their second contest this season by a 4-3 score.
• Lenoir-Rhyne junior midfielder
Ignacio de Goya (Madrid, SPAIN) scored his team-leading 12th goal of the season and added an assist. Ignacio ranks second in the league in points scored (27), one point behind Newberry's Till Neumann (Calden, GERMANY).
• Neumann, with 13 goals on the year, scored twice for the Wolves in the second half but the Bears were able to hold on for the win.

Joseph Linley (Brentwood, ENGLAND) scored the first goal of the night and the first goal of his collegiate career just 1:24 into the contest.

Zach King (Altamonte Springs, Fla.) made three saves and earned the win while Newberry's Brad Dixon (Wakefield, ENGLAND) suffered the loss. Dixon made four saves on the day.

• LR is ranked third in the latest NCAA Division II Southeast Regional Rankings.

Lenoir-Rhyne will host a Quarterfinal Round match of the 2017 South Atlantic Conference Men's Soccer Championship on Tuesday, October 31, at 7:00 p.m. The Bears are third seed in the tournament and will take on sixth-seeded Anderson.
