Hickory, N.C. - The Chowan Women's Basketball Team (2-0) remained unbeaten on the season with a 74-68 victory over Lenoir-Rhyne (1-2), 74-68, Monday evening at Shuford Memorial Gymnasium.

STATS OF THE GAME:
•    The Hawks used balance scoring – with five players in double figures – in the victory.  Chowan was led by Dhyamond Crenshaw (Burke, Va.) with 17 points while Joanne Williams (Norfolk, Va.) tallied a double-double – 10 points and 12 rebounds – in the victory.
•    Lenoir-Rhyne was led by junior forward 
Madi Suddreth (Taylorsville, N.C.) with a game-high 21 points while junior guard 
Kendall Toineeta (Cherokee, N.C.) neared a triple-double again – 16 points, nine rebounds and six assists – despite the loss.
•    The Bears cut a 16-point deficit to two points at 70-68 on a three-point play by Suddreth with 23 seconds left but the Hawks scored the final four points to take the victory.
•    The Hawks took control in the first quarter as they outscored the Bears by a 24-15 margin and forced Lenoir-Rhyne into 12 turnovers.  Chowan also owned the free throw line:  connecting on 22-of-36 free throw attempts.
 
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE:
•    Suddreth leads the team at 17.3 points per game.

Lenoir-Rhyne will hit the road for the first time this season on Wednesday, November 15, against Winston-Salem State in Winston-Salem, N.C., beginning at 6:00 p.m.  Chowan takes on Mars Hill in Spartanburg, S.C., on Friday beginning at 4:00 p.m.
