Newberry, S.C. – Three members of the Lenoir-Rhyne Men's Soccer Team – junior forward Ignacio de Goya (Madrid, SPAIN), freshman midfielder Victor Cascon (Salamanca, SPAIN) and senior defender Sercan Cihan (Sundern, GERMANY) – garnered 2017 NCAA Division II D2CCA All-Southeast Region accolades.  D2CCA is the Conference Commissioner's Association for Division II.

de Goya, a first-team all-region selection, was named the 2017 South Atlantic Conference Men's Soccer Player Of The Year after leading the team in goals scored (12), assists (three) and total points (27).

Both Cascon and Cihan were named to D2CCA All-Southeast Region Second Team.  Cascon finished the season runner-up on the team in goals (four) and points (11) while Cihan headed up a defense which allowed just 18 goals in 17 matches this season.  The Bears also shut out seven of their opponents.  All three players were 2017 All-South Atlantic Conference First-Team honorees.

The trio also led Lenoir-Rhyne (10-4-3, 6-2-2) to a second-place tie in the South Atlantic Conference Regular Season standings and a second straight berth to the NCAA Division II Playoffs.

The Division II Conference Commissioners Association encourages and promotes Division II athletics and high standards of sportsmanship as important elements of higher education.

The CCA is a key communications link among the conferences as they discuss views, policies and regulations that impact Division II intercollegiate athletics and works closely with the NCAA as a communications channel to NCAA Division II member colleges and universities.  In addition, all first-team selections are eligible for All-America accolades.
