Hickory, N.C. – The Carson-Newman Football Team (7-3, 5-2) scored the last 21 points of the game to down Lenoir-Rhyne (3-6, 2-4), 42-28, Saturday afternoon on Senior Day for the Bears in a South Atlantic Conference contest.

STATS OF THE GAME:
• The Eagles' quarterback Derrick Evans (Macon, Ga.) tied a school record with five touchdowns in the game. Evans scored on a 76-yard touchdown run on the game's opening possession and scored all three touchdowns for the Eagles in the fourth quarter. Evans also finished with 109 yards rushing and 149 yards through the air.
• Lenoir-Rhyne sophomore running back
Nelson Brown (Salisbury, Md.) led all rushers with 122 yards including an 86-yard touchdown run late in the first half. Brown scored twice in addition to a two-point conversion.
• The Eagles' Dorren Miller (Roswell, Ga.) added 102 yards receiving on eight catches for Carson-Newman, who held a 418-207 edge in total yards.
• Sophomore defensive back
Kyle Dugger (Fayetteville, Ga.) was outstanding for the Bears, leading all tacklers with 18 in addition to a 38-yard punt return for a touchdown in the second quarter.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE:
• The Eagles snapped a five-game losing streak to the Bears. Carson-Newman is ranked No. 10 in the latest NCAA Division II Super Region No. 2 rankings.
• Brown is just 33 yards away from 1,000 yards rushing in a single season. Brown also leads Lenoir-Rhyne with 10 touchdowns on the year.
