Lenoir-Rhyne Women’s Basketball Takes Care Of Mars Hill, 90-64

Mars Hill, N.C. – The Lenoir-Rhyne Women's Basketball Team (8-4, 2-2) pushed its winning streak to four games with a convincing 90-64 victory over Mars Hill (1-10, 0-4) Wednesday evening in a South Atlantic Conference game at Stanford Arena.

STATS OF THE GAME:
•    Four players scored in double figures for the Bears – including a game-high 18 points from junior guard Madi Suddreth (Taylorsville, N.C.) and 17 points and seven assists from junior guard Kendall Toineeta (Cherokee, N.C.) – in the victory.
•    Holding a 20-19 lead at the end of the first period, Lenoir-Rhyne took control by outscoring Mars Hill by a 28-12 in the second stanza and never looked back.  The Bears led by as many as 30 points – 81-51 – at the 6:33 mark of the fourth period.
•    The Lions were led by Shayla Smith (Johnston, Pa.) with 14 points but the Lions were limited to just 38 percent shooting (26-of-69) for the game.  The Bears held a 51-37 advantage in rebounding as well. 
 
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE:
•    The Bears handed the Lions their ninth straight loss.
•    Suddreth ranks first in the league in scoring at 19.2 points per game while Toineeta tops the conference in assists at 6.4 per outing.

UP NEXT:
Lenoir-Rhyne remains on the road to face Carson-Newman in a South Atlantic Conference game on Saturday at 2:00 p.m., in Jefferson City, Tenn.  Mars Hill faces Coker in Hartsville, S.C., on Saturday in a league contest on Saturday at 2:00 p.m., as well.
