Hickory, N.C. – The Lenoir-Rhyne University Softball Team (5-1) won its first two games of the second annual Bear Bash – 10-2 over Johnson C. Smith and 6-3 over Mercyhurst – Friday afternoon at Bears Field.

After trailing by a 2-0 score, the Bears reeled off 10 straight runs to run-rule the Golden Bulls.

Sarah Kenley (Charlotte, N.C.) hit a two-run home run in the bottom of the fourth inning while sophomore outfielder
Erin Boone (Creedmoor, N.C.) added two hits including a two-run triple in the fourth frame as well.

Ty Triplett (Valdese, N.C.) (1-0), in her first start of the season, went the distance and struck out six batters in picking up the win.
Johnson C. Smith's Victoria Lopez (San Diego, Calif.) suffered the loss while Kaitlyn Santos (Honolulu, Hawaii) drove in both runs for the Golden Bulls.

Lenoir-Rhyne broke a scoreless tie with a five-run second inning on its way to its second victory of the day. The frame was highlighted by freshman outfielder
Savannah Davis' (Bostic, N.C.) bases-clearing triple.
Davis finished with two hits while sophomore
Brandi Parks (Roaring River, N.C.) improved to 2-0 on the season after going the distance and striking out seven batters.
Mercyhurst's Emily Hair (Frewsburg, N.Y.) drove in a run while Heather Nye (Lake View, N.Y.) (0-1) took the loss as the Lakers fell in their season opener.
On the final day of the Bear Bash Classic on Saturday, Lenoir-Rhyne hosts Concord (3:00 p.m.) and Virginia-Wise (5:00 p.m.).
