Hickory, N.C. – The Lenoir-Rhyne Softball Team (6-2) split both its games Saturday at the second annual Bear Bash – defeating Concord (10-0) before falling to Virginia-Wise (3-1) – at Bears Field.

Lenoir-Rhyne took control early – scoring all 10 of its runs in the first three innings of work – in run-ruling the Mountain Lions.

Dakota Keller (Mooresboro, N.C.) hit a home run while sophomore outfielder
Erin Boone (Creedmoor, N.C.) added three hits and three runs batted in. The Bears also finished with 15 hits for the contest.

Brandi Parks (Roaring River, N.C.) improved to 3-0 on the year after earning the complete game victory while Concord's Sarah Herndon (Berryville, Va.) suffered the loss.
Virginia-Wise 3, Lenoir-Rhyne 1
The Cavaliers' Alexa Hernandez (Woodbridge, Va.) came through with a two-run double in the top of the second inning while Taylor Brandts (King George, Va.) (1-0) earned the complete game victory. Brandts scattered seven hits while striking out three batters.
For Lenoir-Rhyne, freshman third baseman
Mackensi Swain (Pinetown, N.C.) hit a solo home run in the bottom of the fifth inning while freshman
Sydney Miller (East Bend, N.C.) (2-2) suffered the loss.
Lenoir-Rhyne next travels to Spartanburg, S.C., to face Converse in a doubleheader on Wednesday afternoon beginning at 2:00 p.m.
