Hickory, N.C. – The Lenoir-Rhyne University Baseball Team (7-0) remained perfect on the year with a doubleheader sweep of Emmanuel (Georgia) (3-3), 11-6 and 7-4, Saturday afternoon at Bears Field. The Bears came into the contest ranked No. 20 in the nation.
Game One – Lenoir-Rhyne 11, Emmanuel 6
The Bears rallied from a 5-0 deficit to take the win over the Lions thanks to junior third baseman
Fred Wadsworth's (Columbia, S.C.) game-winning two-run home run in the bottom of the sixth inning. Wadsworth drove in three runs to lead the Bears.
Lenoir-Rhyne also scored 11 straight runs in the contest and received three hits and three runs batted in from sophomore outfielder

Landon Whitson (Marion, N.C.) (1-0) earned the win after striking out seven batters in relief while Emmanuel's Cody Waters (Dahlonega, Ga.) (0-1) suffered the loss. Tim Manning (Newnan, Ga.) hit a grand slam for the Lions in the second inning in the losing effort.
Game Two – Lenoir-Rhyne 7, Emmanuel 4 (seven innings)
Lenoir-Rhyne took control early by scoring all seven runs in the first two innings highlighted by a bases-clearing double from senior third baseman

Hunter Martin (Stanfield, N.C.) improved to 2-0 on the season while junior
Tad Ratliff (Taylorsville, N.C.) pitched a scoreless seventh inning for his first save of the year.
For Emmanuel, Eric Pape (Loganville, Ga.) drove in two runs while Daniel Gooden (Griffin, Ga.) fell to 0-2 after taking the loss.
Lenoir-Rhyne and Emmanuel round out the series with a single game on Sunday beginning at 1:00 p.m.
