Hickory, N.C. – The No. 25 Lenoir-Rhyne Softball Team (10-2) defeated both Pfeiffer (6-0) and Augusta (11-3 in five innings) Friday afternoon in the Catawba Invitational, hosted by the Bears, on its home field.

Christina Walker (Roxboro, N.C.) broke a scoreless tie with a bases-clearing triple in the fifth inning while junior pinch hitter
Mackenzie Cates (Efland, N.C.) added a two-run home run in the victory.
Lenoir-Rhyne sophomore
Brandi Parks (Roaring River, N.C.) improved to 5-0 on the season after throwing a four-hit shutout. Parks struck out five batters while Caitlin Christian (Asheboro, N.C.) fell to 1-1 after taking the loss.
Game Two – Lenoir-Rhyne 11, Augusta 3 (five innings)

Sydney Landreth (Disputanta, Va.) and senior outfielder
Dakota Keller (Mooresboro, N.C.) both hit home runs while the Bears scored early and often to run-rule the Jaguars.
Landreth finished with four runs batted in as the Bears raced to a 10-0 lead after three innings of play. Junior shortstop
Madison Carter (Bessemer City, N.C.) added three hits and two runs batted in and sophomore
Ty Triplett (Valdese, N.C.) improved to 3-0 on the year after taking the win on the mound for the Bears.
In the third contest of the day, Pfeiffer downed Augusta by a 10-5 score.
On the final day of the invitational on Saturday, Lenoir-Rhyne hosts Goldey-Beacom (11:00 a.m.) and Mount Olive (1:00 p.m.).
