Hickory, N.C. – The Lenoir-Rhyne Softball Team (12-2) increased its winning streak to six games with a pair of victories on Saturday in the Catawba Invitational hosted by the Bears. Lenoir-Rhyne defeated both Goldey-Beacom (13-0) and Mount Olive (4-1) to win all four games in the classic.

The Bears put the contest away early by scoring all 13 runs in the first two innings including eight in the first frame highlighted by a bases-clearing triple courtesy of freshman outfielder

Sydney Miller (East Bend, N.C.) improved to 3-2 on the year after pitching the final three innings while the Lightning's Kylie Doyle (Tower City, Pa.) suffered the loss.

Madison Carter (Bessemer City, N.C.) hit a two-run home run while sophomore
Brandi Parks (Roaring River, N.C.) improved to 6-0 on the year after earning the complete game victory.
Parks allowed one unearned run to go along with six strikeouts while Mount Olive's Karen Foley (Kernersville, N.C.) fell to 0-4 after taking the loss.
Lenoir-Rhyne returns to the field on Saturday to face St. Joseph's (Indiana) and Mount Olive at Noon and 2:00 p.m., respectively, in the Mid-South Classic in Duncan, S.C.
