Hickory, N.C. – The Lenoir-Rhyne Women's Lacrosse Team (0-1) suffered a 9-8 setback to Belmont Abbey (3-0) in overtime in the Bears' 2017 season opener Wednesday afternoon at Moretz Stadium.
The Crusaders' Marin Felsoci (Arvada, Colo.) scored the game-winning 52 seconds into the first overtime.  Felsoci tied for the match-high with three goals as Belmont Abbey remained unbeaten on the season.
Lenoir-Rhyne was led by sophomore attacker 
Gabby Sousa (Delran, N.J.) with three goals while junior attacker 
Christine Faircloth (Winter Park, Fla.) added a goal and an assist in the setback.
Belmont Abbey's Rebecca Stromberg (Cincinnati, Ohio) and Rebecca Luca (Massapequa, N.Y.) added two goals each while Annie Brannon (Charlotte, N.C.) earned the victory in goal after tallying five saves.

Lenoir-Rhyne hits the road to take on Mount Olive in Mount Olive, N.C., on Saturday afternoon at 3:30 p.m.  Belmont Abbey hosts Florida Tech on Friday at 3:30 p.m.
