Lenoir-Rhyne Wins Over Wheeling Jesuit, 21-17, In Home Men’s Lacrosse

Hickory, N.C. – The Lenoir-Rhyne Men's Lacrosse Team (2-1), ranked No. 14 in NCAA Division II, won its second straight game by outlasting Wheeling Jesuit (0-3), 21-17, Saturday afternoon at Moretz Stadium.

Lenoir-Rhyne freshman midfielder Eric Dickinson (Charlotte, N.C.) led the way with a match-high six goals while senior attacker Mike Hanlon (Haymarket, Va.) added a pair of goals and six assists as the Bears rallied from a 10-6 deficit just before halftime to take the win.  Dickinson has a team-leading 10 goals on the season.

The Cardinals, still searching for their first victory of the year, were led by Dereck Downs (Toronto, Ontario, CANADA) and Matt Lee (Toronto, Ontario, CANADA) with five goals each despite the loss.

With the score tied at 15 entering the final period, the Bears broke it open by scoring the first five goals of the frame including the match-winner from junior long stick middle Collin Lett (Greensboro, N.C.).

Lenoir-Rhyne senior attacker Will Remsen (Baldwin, N.Y.) added three goals while junior goalkeeper Ryan Crompton (Frederick, Md.) played both the first and fourth periods in picking up the win.  Crompton made eight saves.

Lenoir-Rhyne held the edge in both shots taken (60-37) and ground balls (47-28).  Wheeling Jesuit's Jake Lilly (Marcellus, N.Y.) made 13 saves but suffered the loss in goal.

Lenoir-Rhyne opens South Atlantic Conference play on Saturday, March 4, in Hartsville, S.C., against Coker beginning at 7:00 p.m.  Wheeling Jesuit travels to Winter Park, Fla., to take on Rollins on Thursday at 7:00 p.m.
