Hickory, N.C. – The Lenoir-Rhyne University Baseball Team (4-0) remained unbeaten on the year with a 12-6 victory over Glenville State (0-3) to complete the weekend series sweep Sunday afternoon at Bears Field.

Lenoir-Rhyne sophomore first baseman Alex Reynolds (Kings Mountain, N.C.) hit a solo home run and senior second baseman David Newcomer (Archdale, N.C.) added a pair of run-scoring doubles as the Bears raced to a 9-1 lead after six innings of play on the way to the win.

Glenville State's Tanner Helms (Lake Charles, La.) hit a grand slam in the top of the seventh inning but it wasn't enough.  Helms finished with five runs batted in.

Lenoir-Rhyne finished with 17 hits on the afternoon including three by both Reynolds and junior outfielder Marcus Shoemaker (Colfax, N.C.) while freshman John Grigg (Lawndale, N.C.) (1-0) earned the win on the mound.  Grigg allowed just one run while striking out seven batters in six innings of work.

Glenville State's Wesley Stauffer (Orville, Ohio) (1-0) suffered the loss for the Pioneers.
