Hickory, N.C. – The Lenoir-Rhyne University Baseball Team (4-0) remained unbeaten on the year with a 12-6 victory over Glenville State (0-3) to complete the weekend series sweep Sunday afternoon at Bears Field.

Alex Reynolds (Kings Mountain, N.C.) hit a solo home run and senior second baseman
David Newcomer (Archdale, N.C.) added a pair of run-scoring doubles as the Bears raced to a 9-1 lead after six innings of play on the way to the win.
Glenville State's Tanner Helms (Lake Charles, La.) hit a grand slam in the top of the seventh inning but it wasn't enough. Helms finished with five runs batted in.
Lenoir-Rhyne finished with 17 hits on the afternoon including three by both Reynolds and junior outfielder
Marcus Shoemaker (Colfax, N.C.) while freshman
John Grigg (Lawndale, N.C.) (1-0) earned the win on the mound. Grigg allowed just one run while striking out seven batters in six innings of work.
Glenville State's Wesley Stauffer (Orville, Ohio) (1-0) suffered the loss for the Pioneers.
Lenoir-Rhyne makes a trip to Greeneville, Tenn., to take on Tusculum in a non-conference regional game Wednesday beginning at 4:00 p.m. Glenville State plays Barton in Wilson, N.C., in a doubleheader on Saturday, February 11, beginning at Noon.
