Hartsville, S.C. – The Lenoir-Rhyne Baseball Team (15-9, 4-6) put an end to its six-game losing streak with a 6-5 triumph over Coker (13-9, 5-5) Friday afternoon in a South Atlantic Conference contest at Tom J. New Field.

Thomas St. Clair (Winston-Salem, N.C.) improved to 7-1 with the victory while junior
Tad Ratliff (Taylorsville, N.C.) pitched a scoreless ninth inning for his third save of the year. St. Clair struck out three batters to increase his league-leading total to 73.
With the score tied at four in the top of the eighth inning, senior third baseman
David Newcomer (Archdale, N.C.) came through with the game-winning, two-run double. Newcomer finished with three hits and three runs batted in while sophomore designated hitter
Zach Jacobs (Moncks Corner, S.C.) added two triples and three runs scored in the victory.
For Coker, A.J. Strnad (Eastlake, Ohio) hit a solo home run in the third inning but Cody Brown (Royersford, Penn.) fell to 1-2 after suffering the loss.
The two teams wrap up the South Atlantic Conference weekend series with a doubleheader on Saturday beginning at Noon.
