Winter Park, Fla. – The Lenoir-Rhyne Baseball Team (17-11) opened a weekend road series with an 8-4 victory over Rollins (16-10) Friday evening at Alfond Stadium.

Thomas St. Clair (Winston-Salem, N.C.) improved to 8-1 on the season after allowing just one earned run while pitching into the sixth inning to go along with six strikeouts as the Bears won their second straight game. St. Clair also increased his national-leading strikeout total to 79.

John Curtis (Lenoir, N.C.) held Rollins to one unearned run after relieving St. Clair in the sixth frame for his third save of the year.
The Bears held a 4-3 advantage entering the top of the seventh inning before taking control with a four-run frame highlighted by senior second baseman
David Newcomer's (Archdale, N.C.) two-run single. Sophomore first baseman
Alex Reynolds (Kings Mountain, N.C.) added three hits and a RBI for the Bears.
For Rollins, Nick Breen (Debary, Fla.) and Brian Brooker (Palm Beach Gardens, Fla.) both totaled two hits and a run batted in while Brad Case (Pelham, N.Y.) (4-3) suffered the setback.
The two teams will continue the series with a single game on Saturday beginning at 2:00 p.m.
