Cary, N.C. – The Lenoir-Rhyne Softball Team (20-2), ranked No. 10 in NCAA Division II, ran its winning streak to 14 games with a pair of wins over Virginia State (13-0) and Lock Haven (8-0) Saturday afternoon at the Shaw Challenge at Thomas Brooks Park.

Mackenzie Cates (Efland, N.C.) drove in three runs including a two-run triple in the third frame as the Bears easily run-ruled the Trojans.
Lenoir-Rhyne sophomore
Ty Triplett (Valdese, N.C.) threw a two-hitter while striking out eight batters in improving to 6-0 on the season. Lenoir-Rhyne finished with 13 hits in the contest.
Virginia State's Dominique Mulero (Chatham, Va.) fell to 1-2 after taking the loss.

The Bears run-ruled their fourth straight opponent when senior first baseman
Sydney Landreth (Disputanta, Va.) ended the game with an RBI double in the sixth inning.
Junior outfielder
Christina Walker (Roxboro, N.C.) drove in a game-high three runs while sophomore
Brandi Parks (Roaring River, N.C.) improved to 10-0 on the season after earning the win. Parks struck out nine batters for her fifth shutout on the year.
Lock Haven's Bekah Slattery (Douglassville, Pa.) fell to 0-5 on the year.
Lenoir-Rhyne wraps up the tournament on Sunday against Charleston (W.Va.) on 1:30 p.m.
