Hickory, N.C. – The Lenoir-Rhyne University Softball Team (23-2), ranked No. 7 in NCAA Division II, swept a doubleheader from Augusta (5-23), 3-2 and 4-2, Wednesday afternoon to run its winning streak to 17 games, one off the school record.

Brandi Parks (Roaring River, N.C.) improved to 12-0 on the year after earning the complete game victory as the Bears were able to hold on and defeat the Jaguars.

Erin Boone (Creedmoor, N.C.) totaled three hits and a run scored while senior first baseman
Sydney Landreth (Disputanta, Va.) added an RBI double as the Bears staked themselves to a 3-0 advantage in the victory.
Augusta's Courtney Browne (Aurora, Colo.) drove in both runs in the fifth and seventh innings, respectively, while Morgan Hunter (Richmond Hill, Ga.) fell to 2-6 after taking the loss.

Sarah Kenley (Charlotte, N.C.) and freshman third baseman
Jessie Valerius (Punta Gorda, Fla.) both hit home runs as the Bears rallied from a 2-0 deficit to complete the sweep of the Jaguars.
Kenley finished with three hits in the contest while Lenoir-Rhyne took the lead for good with a three-run fifth inning.

Lenoir-Rhyne remains at home to face USC Aiken in a doubleheader on Friday at 3:00 p.m., while Augusta hosts UNC Pembroke in a Peach Belt Conference doubleheader on Saturday at 1:00 p.m.
