Hartsville, S.C. – The Lenoir-Rhyne Softball Team (39-8, 11-3) ran its winning streak to nine games with a doubleheader sweep of Coker (35-13, 11-5), 6-3 and 6-4, Tuesday afternoon at Saleeby-Stokes Field. With the sweep, Lenoir-Rhyne moved into a first-place tie in the league standings with Carson-Newman.
Game One – Lenoir-Rhyne 6, Coker 3

Sarah Kenley (Charlotte, N.C.) and junior third baseman
Mackenzie Cates (Efland, N.C.) both hit solo home runs and freshman
Sydney Miller (East Bend, N.C.) improved to 11-4 after going the distance to lead the Bears to the win.
Kenley finished with two hits and two runs batted in while Miller won her seventh straight game for the Bears.
For Coker, Augusta Jackson (Kingsland, Ga.) fell to 7-2 after taking the loss while Allyson High (Marshville, N.C.) had a two-run double in the setback.
Game Two – Lenoir-Rhyne 6, Coker 4
Lenoir-Rhyne senior first baseman
Sydney Landreth (Disputanta, Va.) hit a two-run home run and finished with three hits and three runs batted in as the Bears completed the sweep of the Cobras.
The Bears took the lead for good with a three-run second inning which broke a 1-1 tie. Lenoir-Rhyne sophomore
Brandi Parks (Roaring River, N.C.) (19-2) earned the win while Miller pitched the final three innings for her second save of the year.
Coker's Casey Simmons (Dover, Fla.) hit a solo home run while Taylor Forehand (New Bern, N.C.) took the loss and fell to 0-2 on the year.
Lenoir-Rhyne remains on the road to take on Lincoln Memorial in a league doubleheader on Friday afternoon in Harrogate, Tenn., beginning at 2:00 p.m. Coker hosts Newberry next Wednesday, April 19, at 2:00 p.m., in a conference doubleheader.
