Jefferson City, Tenn. – The Lenoir-Rhyne Volleyball Team (6-2, 3-0) pushed its winning streak to five matches with a 3-0 sweep of Carson-Newman (5-4, 3-3) Friday evening in a South Atlantic Conference contest at Holt Fieldhouse.
Lenoir-Rhyne defeated Carson-Newman by scores of 25-21, 25-16 and 28-26 and swept its third straight league opponent.
The Bears were led by senior outside hitter
Brooke Redmond (Statesville, N.C.) and sophomore middle blocker
Jaclyn Denny (North Wilkesboro, N.C.) with eight kills each while senior defensive specialist
Ashley Markland (Conover, N.C.) added a match-high 20 digs in the victory.
Carson-Newman's Megan Oldenburger (Cedar Rapids, Iowa) and Marnie Streeter (Goldvein, Va.) finished with 14 and 13 kills, respectively, in the losing effort.
Lenoir-Rhyne also totaled eight service aces and eight blocks while limiting Carson-Newman to just a .137 hitting percentage as well.
Lenoir-Rhyne remains on the road to face Lincoln Memorial in a South Atlantic Conference match while Carson-Newman hosts Catawba on Saturday afternoon at 5:00 p.m.
