Harrogate, Tenn. – The Lenoir-Rhyne University Volleyball Team (7-2, 4-0) increased its winning streak to six matches with a 3-1 win over Lincoln Memorial (6-4, 3-4) Saturday afternoon in a South Atlantic Conference game at Mars Gymnasium.
The Bears defeated by Lady Railsplitters by scores of 23-25, 25-18, 25-23 and 25-18 and remained one of two schools in the conference without a league setback.
Four players totaled 10 or kills on the day – led by senior outside hitter
Brooke Redmond (Statesville, N.C.) with 14 kills – while sophomore setter
Anna Smith (Harmony, N.C.) added 31 assists in the victory for the Bears.
Lenoir-Rhyne senior middle blocker
Emily Steele (Greenville, N.C.) and sophomore right side hitter
Hannah Houston (Claremont, N.C.) totaled 13 and 12 kills, respectively, in the victory as well.
The Lady Railsplitters were paced by Kiera Holland (Columbia, S.C.) with a match-high 17 kills and 11 digs in the losing effort. Lincoln Memorial was also hurt by 10 service errors in the contest.
Lenoir-Rhyne returns home to host undefeated Wingate (11-0, 6-0) in a league showdown Thursday at 7:00 p.m., while Lincoln Memorial hosts Francis Marion Friday at 7:00 p.m.
