Wingate, N.C. – The Wingate University Women's Basketball Team (12-3, 6-2) handed Lenoir-Rhyne (8-9, 2-7) a 68-51 setback in a South Atlantic Conference game Wednesday night at Cuddy Arena. The Bears suffered their fifth straight defeat.

STATS OF THE GAME:
•    The Bears were led by junior guard 
Kendall Toineeta (Cherokee, N.C.) with 17 points while junior guard 
Ashley Rodriguez (Orlando, Fla.) came off the bench to finish in double figures with 11 points despite the loss.
•    The Bulldogs were spearheaded by Marta Miscenko (Riga, LATVIA), who led all scorers with a game-high 31 points and connected on 13-of-19 free throw attempts.  Wingate's Danasia Witherspoon (Hickory, N.C.) added 14 points as the home team hit 59 percent – 13-of-22 – from the field in the second half.
•    Lenoir-Rhyne did lead by a 29-27 advantage at halftime before Wingate rallied to take the win.
 
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE:
•    Toineeta crossed the 100-assist mark on the season and now has 102 dishes on the year while Rodriguez finished with a season-high in points.  Toineeta continues to lead the league in assists (6.1 dishes per contest).
UP NEXT:
Lenoir-Rhyne does not play again until Wednesday, January 17, when the Bears travel to Charlotte, N.C., to take on Queens at 6:00 p.m., while Wingate hosts fourth-ranked Carson-Newman on Saturday afternoon beginning at 2:00 p.m.
