Asheboro, N.C. – The Lenoir-Rhyne University Baseball Team (6-2) split a non-conference regional, seven-inning doubleheader with Barton (4-5) Tuesday afternoon at McCrary Park. The Bears won the first contest by a 9-3 score while the Bulldogs prevailed in the nightcap, 6-4.

STATS OF THE GAME (Game 1):
• Trailing by a 2-0 score, the Bears took control by plating eight straight runs highlighted by a four-run third frame which gave the Bears lead for good. Lenoir-Rhyne junior outfielder
Justin Dean (Mauldin, S.C.) hit a solo home run to lead off the frame and finished with two hits and two runs batted in.
• On the mound, junior
Jake Conroy (Binghamton, N.Y.) (1-0) earned the win while sophomore
Brett Fulk (East Bend, N.C.) struck out six batters in three innings of work to earn the save.
• Lenoir-Rhyne also received a two-hit, two-RBI performance from junior catcher
Zack Shoemaker (Colfax, N.C.).
• For Barton, Colby Warren (Roanoke Rapids, N.C.) hit a solo home run while Clay Walters (Wake Forest, N.C.) (0-1) suffered the setback.
STATS OF THE GAME (Game 2):
• The Bulldogs took control early with a three-run first inning and never trailed in the contest. Warren again led Barton's offense, finishing with a pair of hits and two runs batted in. Warren also picked up the save for the Bulldogs' Landry Moore (Clayton, N.C.).
• Lenoir-Rhyne was led by senior catcher
Cole Fowler (Dobson, N.C.) with a run-scoring double while redshirt freshman third baseman
Will Jones (Clayton, N.C.) drove in a run in each contest. However, sophomore
Alex Shirazi (Charlotte, N.C.) (0-1) suffered the loss for the Bears.
