Wingate Women’s Basketball Wins Defensive Contest Over Lenoir-Rhyne, 55-43

Hickory, N.C. – The Wingate Women's Basketball Team (20-3, 14-2), ranked No. 22 in NCAA Division II, won a defensive slugfest over Lenoir-Rhyne (14-12, 8-10) by a 55-43 score in a South Atlantic Conference game Wednesday evening at Shuford Memorial Gymnasium.

STATS OF THE GAME:
•    The Bulldogs, winners of nine straight games, were led by Marta Miscenko (Riga, Latvia) with 20 points and nine rebounds while Courtney Robinson (Taylors, S.C.) added 12 points as Wingate held the Bears to just 33 percent shooting (17-of-51) for the contest. 
•    Lenoir-Rhyne senior guard Cassidy Joyner (Dobson, N.C.) scored 15 points and hit three treys for the Bears but was the lone player to hit double figures for the home team.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE:
•    The Bulldogs remained in sole possession of second place in the league standings.  Wingate swept the season series from Lenoir-Rhyne.
•    Lenoir-Rhyne junior guard Kendall Toineeta (Cherokee, N.C.) continues to lead the league in assists with 132.  Toineeta had four points and dished out a pair of assists on the night.

UP NEXT:
Lenoir-Rhyne hits the road to take on Tusculum in Greeneville, Tenn., while Wingate returns home to face Anderson.  Both South Atlantic Conference contests take place on Saturday afternoon at 2:00 p.m.
