Hickory, N.C. – The Lenoir-Rhyne Baseball Team (8-2) kept its offense in full throttle with a 23-3 win over Goldey-Beacom (0-1) Saturday afternoon at Bears Field.

STATS OF THE GAME:
•    Lenoir-Rhyne sophomore shortstop Corbin Watson (Eden, N.C.) hit a three-run home run while redshirt freshman second baseman Brock Johnson (Granite Falls, N.C.) added three hits and five runs batted in to lead the Bears' 22-hit attack.
•    The Bears took control early, scoring five runs in the bottom of the first frame and leading by a 9-1 score after three innings of work.
•    Lenoir-Rhyne senior Connor Dailey (Rutherfordton, N.C.) (1-0) earned the win in middle relief for the Bears.
•    For Goldey-Beacom, Raul Perez-Duran (Trenton, N.J.) drove in a pair of runs while Jake Kinsell (Carmichaels, Pa.) suffered the loss.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE:
•    Lenoir-Rhyne junior first baseman Alex Reynolds (Kings Mountain, N.C.) drove in three runs for the second straight game while the Bears' 23 runs and 22 hits were season-highs.
•    The Lightning was playing their first game of the 2018 campaign.
