Hickory, N.C. – The Lenoir-Rhyne Women's Lacrosse Team (0-1) suffered a heartbreaking loss to Belmont Abbey (2-0), 12-11, in the 2018 season opener at Moretz Stadium.

STATS OF THE GAME:
• Belmont Abbey's Marin Felsoci (Arvada, Colo.) finished with a game-high five goals while Rebecca Luca (Massapequa, N.Y.) broke a 10-all tie with back-to-back scores in the final six minutes of the contest to give the Crusaders the lead for good.
• Lenoir-Rhyne – which held the advantage in both shots taken (27-20) and ground balls (13-10) – was led by junior attacker
Gabby Sousa (Delran, N.J.) and sophomore attacker
Cathleen Gaffney (Allentown, Pa.) with three goals each.
• In goal, Belmont Abbey's Annie Brannon (Charlotte, N.C.) made 10 stops and earned the win while senior
Ines Flueck (Coppell, Texas) made five saves but took the setback for Lenoir-Rhyne.
