Colorado Mesa Stuns No. 3 Lenoir-Rhyne Men’s Lacrosse, 13-12, In Thriller

Hickory, N.C. – The Colorado Mesa Men's Lacrosse Team (3-0), ranked No. 14 in NCAA Division II, held off a furious rally to stun third-ranked Lenoir-Rhyne (4-1), 13-12, Saturday afternoon in a contest featuring two nationally-ranked teams.

STATS OF THE GAME:
•    Lenoir-Rhyne was led by junior attacker Joe Buduo (Shrewsbury, Mass.) with four goals and two assists despite the loss.  Buduo, who tied the contest at 12 with 1:31 left, now has a team-leading 15 goals on the year.
•    Colorado Mesa's Jack Griffin (Parker, Colo.) scored the game-winner with 43 seconds left in the contest.  Griffin and Reece Callies (Langley, British Columbia) finished with three goals each to lead the way for the Mavericks.
•    The Bears lost despite holding a 48-38 edge in shots taken.  In goal, Colorado Mesa's Remi Reeves (Telford, Pa.) totaled 21 saves for the win while Lenoir-Rhyne senior Ryan Crompton (Frederick, Md.) suffered the loss despite 14 stops on the afternoon.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE:
•    Lenoir-Rhyne was playing its third nationally-ranked team of the season:  the Bears beat No. 9 Seton Hill (14-13 in double overtime) and top-ranked Limestone (17-13) earlier this year.
•    Lenoir-Rhyne senior midfielder Ben Corrigan (Alpharetta, Ga.) keyed the Bears' rally in the fourth period – tallying a goal and both assists in the final period – as the Bears tied the contest after an 11-7 deficit early in the stanza.

UP NEXT:
Lenoir-Rhyne remains at home to take on Florida Tech on Friday, March 2, at 6:00 p.m., while Colorado Mesa hosts Rockhurst on Tuesday, March 6, at home.
