Hickory, N.C. – The Lenoir-Rhyne Softball Team (4-3) swept a doubleheader from Lees-McRae (0-4), 7-0 and 8-1, Friday afternoon in the Bears' 2018 home opener.

STATS OF THE GAME (Game 1):
•    Lenoir-Rhyne junior pitcher Brandi Parks (Roaring River, N.C.) (2-2) threw a two-hit, five-strikeout shutout while Lees-McRae's Kara Cunningham (Indian Trail, N.C.) (0-2) took the loss.
•    On offense, the Bears were led by senior shortstop Madison Carter (Bessemer City, N.C.) and freshman first baseman Kylee Leonhardt (Lincolnton, N.C.).   Both players drove in three runs while Leonhardt hit a solo home run in the fifth inning.

STATS OF THE GAME (Game 2):
•    Leonhardt hit a grand slam in the fifth inning while the Bears also scored four runs in the fourth frame to come away with the easy victory.
•    On the mound, junior Emily Kenley (Charlotte, N.C.) (2-1) allowed just one unearned run while striking out seven batters in the complete-game victory.  Lees-McRae's Cassidy Largen (Stuart, Va.) (0-2) took the loss.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE:
•    Lenoir-Rhyne improved to 15-2 all-time against Lees-McRae.
