Hickory, N.C. – The Newberry Baseball Team (11-9, 4-3) scored early and often in downing Lenoir-Rhyne (15-8, 4-3), 11-1, Friday night in the opener of a South Atlantic Conference weekend series at Bears Field.

STATS OF THE GAME:
• Newberry led by a 10-0 score after an inning and a half thanks to a seven-run second frame. The Wolves were led by Derek Olenchuk (Irmo, S.C.) with four hits and two runs batted in while Colin Allman (Tampa, Fla.) scored three times and collected three hits in the win. Newberry finished with 17 hits in the contest.
