Hickory, N.C. – The Lenoir-Rhyne Baseball Team (17-8, 6-3) bounced back from a disappointing loss the night before to sweep Newberry (11-11, 4-5) in a South Atlantic Conference doubleheader, 7-4 and 6-4, Saturday afternoon at Bears Field. The Bears rallied from 4-2 deficits in both contests to take the sweep.

STATS OF THE GAME (Game 1):
• Lenoir-Rhyne junior outfielder
Justin Dean (Mauldin, S.C.) broke a four-all tie with the game-winning, two-run double in the eighth inning while junior first baseman
Alex Reynolds (Kings Mountain, N.C.) and redshirt freshman third baseman
Will Jones (Clayton, N.C.) added two RBI each to lead the Bears to the win. Reynolds also finished with three hits.
• Newberry's Tyler White (Chapin, S.C.) hit a three-run home run but Hunter Hill (Little Mountain, S.C.) (0-2) suffered the loss for the Wolves.
• Lenoir-Rhyne junior
Kevin LaRosa (Orange Park, Fla.) (1-1) earned the win in relief while senior
Landon Whitson (Marion, N.C.) registered the final out for his fourth save of the year.

Aaron Stamper (Clemmons, N.C.) tied the game at four with a solo home run before sophomore shortstop
Corbin Watson (Eden, N.C.) came through with the game-winning RBI single – both in the fifth frame – to help the Bears complete the sweep.
• Junior designated hitter
Clayton Jeffries (Lakeland, Fla.) drove in two runs while sophomore
John Grigg (Lawndale, N.C.) improved to 4-0 after earning the win. Whitson pitched a scoreless seventh frame for his fifth save this spring.
• For the Wolves, Colin Allman (Tampa, Fla.) drove in three runs but Mike DeLee (Dorchester, S.C.) fell to 1-3 after taking the loss.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE:
• Lenoir-Rhyne won its third straight league weekend series to start the season.
