Limestone Baseball Rallies To Stun Lenoir-Rhyne, 12-11, In 10 Innings

Gaffney, S.C. – The Limestone Baseball Team (19-25) rallied from a nine-run deficit to defeat Lenoir-Rhyne (26-19), 12-11, in 10 innings of play Tuesday evening at FCU Founders Stadium in a non-conference, regional contest.

STATS OF THE GAME:
•    Lenoir-Rhyne junior first baseman Alex Reynolds (Charlotte, N.C.) hit two home runs including a grand slam while junior designated hitter Matthew Freeman (Belews Creek, N.C.) added a two-run home run as the Bears built an 11-2 advantage midway through the fifth inning.
•    The Saints scored the final 10 runs of the contest which included a seven-run seventh inning.  Limestone won the game in the bottom of the 10th inning thanks to Chase Allen's (Sharpsburg, Ga.) run-scoring single with one out.
•    Reynolds drove in five runs and Freeman totaled three hits but junior Griffin Templeton (Simpsonville, S.C.) (0-1) took the loss for the Bears.
•    For Limestone, John Staab (Cockeysville, Md.) and Kyle Strovink (Rocky Point, N.Y.) hit home runs while Michael Todd Harris (Union, S.C.) pitched three scoreless innings to earn the victory and improve to 2-2 on the season.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE:
•    Lenoir-Rhyne's pitchers struck out 11 batters to increase its league-leading total to 381.
•    Reynolds' grand slam was the first by a Bear since Brandon Lam on Saturday, April 22, 2017, on the road against Newberry.

UP NEXT:
Lenoir-Rhyne returns home to face Coker in a South Atlantic Conference game Friday at 6:00 p.m., while Limestone remains at home to take on Mount Olive on Friday in a Conference Carolinas contest beginning at 6:00 p.m.
