Greenwood, S.C. – The Lenoir-Rhyne Baseball Team (23-14) was able to hold on for a 9-8 victory on the road over Lander (12-21) Tuesday evening in a mid-week regional contest at Dolny Stadium.

STATS OF THE GAME:
• Lenoir-Rhyne jumped out to a 5-0 advantage – aided by a two-run home run from senior outfielder
Marcus Shoemaker (Colfax, N.C.) in the fifth inning – and were able to hold on for the victory.
• Sophomore shortstop
Corbin Watson (Eden, N.C.) added a bases-clearing triple in the eighth frame and drove in four runs for the Bears, who won despite the Bearcats' 13-7 advantage in total hits.
• Lenoir-Rhyne junior
Jake Conroy (Binghamton, N.Y.) improved to 3-0 after pitching five scoreless innings and striking out five batters while senior
Patrick LaGanke (Raleigh, N.C.) registered the final three outs for his first save of the year.
• For Lander, Colton Yeager (Jacksonville, Fla.) drove in two runs but J.D. Cook (Asheville, N.C.) fell to 3-4 on the year after taking the loss. The Bearcats scored twice in both the eighth and ninth innings but couldn't get any closer.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE:
• With the victory over the Bearcats, the Bears already eclipsed last year's win total.

Lenoir-Rhyne returns to South Atlantic Conference play on Friday when the Bears host Tusculum on Friday at 6:00 p.m. Lander travels to Milledgeville, Ga., to face Georgia College in a Peach Belt Conference contest Friday evening beginning at 6:00 p.m., as well.
