Hickory, N.C. – The Lenoir-Rhyne Men's Tennis Team (13-6, 4-4) prevailed over Coker (10-9, 3-5) by a 7-2 score in a South Atlantic Conference match Sunday at the YMCA of Catawba Valley.
With the victory, Lenoir-Rhyne clinched its first-ever berth to the South Atlantic Conference Tournament Championship. The Bears have also won back-to-back contests.
Four players for the Bears – sophomores
Tales Miranda (Sao Paulo, BRAZIL) and
Paul Lenz (Ratingen, GERMANY), junior
Shane O'Dea (Dublin, IRELAND) and senior
Tomas Hons (Valasske Mezirici, CZECH REPUBLIC) – earned victories at singles and doubles. LR also swept all three doubles matches.
Lenoir-Rhyne next faces conference-foe Queens on Senior Day at the YMCA of Catawba Valley at Noon on Wednesday while Coker hosts Catawba in league action Wednesday at 2:00 p.m.
