Women’s Basketball Falls at Home to Catawba

HICKORY, N.C. –  The senior duo of Kendall Toineeta and Madi Suddreth shined at home, but the Lenoir-Rhyne Women's Basketball Team fell in South Atlantic Conference action to the Catawba College Indians, 82-74.

STATS OF THE GAME:
•    Toineeta led all scorers and repeated her season-high in scoring with 25 points. She just missed a double-double, dishing out nine assists to go along with three rebounds, five steals and a block. The senior also was a perfect 4-for-4 from beyond the arc.
•    Suddreth proved once again to be a key piece on the team, posting yet another double-double with 15 points and 11 rebounds. Kennedy Weigt continued her hot play of late, hitting four three pointers and scoring 14 points on the night.
•    Catawba had a trio score in double figures as Anna Gardner put up 18, Talia Barnes scored 17 and Taisha DeShazo added 13 of her own. Shemya Stanbeck was big down low, leading the Indians with 10 boards.
•    The Bears managed to outshoot the Indians in Shuford Gymnasium, 46.7 percent to 43.3 percent. LR also shot 47.1 percent from long range, making eight of the 17 shots taken from beyond the arc.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE:
•    Toineeta scored 25 points in two-straight games and tied her season-high in assists as well. She ranks No. 1 in the SAC in assists and averages 5.4 per game.
•    Suddreth continued to move up the scoring chart and holds the 13th-place in school history. She just needs 58 points to crack the top-10.  Tonight marked her fifth double-double of the season.
•    Weigt has scored in double figures in four straight, and five of the past seven games.

UP NEXT:
The Bears have the weekend off before hitting the road once again at Queens on Wednesday, Jan. 30, with tipoff set for 6 p.m.
