Greenwood, S.C.---  For the second straight year LR and Lander opened the season on the opening night of the PBC/SAC Challenge. This year Lander jumped out to a 28-8 lead after one quarter and never looked back for a 92-65 victory.  The Bears were lead by Kennedy Weigt and Madeline Hardy with 12 points each.

  Stats of the Game:

• Bearcats were red hot from the beginning helping them grabbed a 28-8 lead after one. Bearcats shot 59.4% from the field for the game. 
• Kennedy Weigt got the Bears going in the second quarter scoring 10 of her 12 points in the quarter including two three pointers to cut the halftime lead to 17.
• Lander started the second half with a 29-15 run to pull away for the victory.
• 64 of Lander's 92 points came from the paint; Lander actually doubled up the Bears in points in the paint (64-32)
• Bears shot only 37.7% from the field including 3 of 18 from three. 
• 11 different Bears scored; paced by Kennedy Weigt and Madeline Hardy 12 points.
• Bears did have 12 offensive rebounds,lead by Kiara Moore with 5.  The 12 offensive rebounds lead to 7 second chance points for the Bears. 
• Freshman Ashley Woodroffe added 11 points, 3 assists and 2 rebounds in her collegiate debut. 

Beyond the Box Score:

• Lander is coming off a 74-72 win at Clemson in a exhibition game on October 29th.
• Lander squeak by the Bears last year 55-53 to open the season.
• Bears do still lead the all-time series 5-4. 
• This is the second straight year Lander, USC Aiken, Carson-Newman and LR have started the year in the PBC/SAC Challenge.
• Sophomore Kiara Moore had a career high 7 rebounds in the game. 
• Freshman Blair Barefoot (8 points) and Laney Fox (2 points) each scored in their first collegiate game. 

Up Next: Bears will returned to the court tomorrow afternoon in the second day of the PBC/SAC Challenge.  Bears will take on USC Aiken at 1 PM.
