HICKORY, N.C. - The Lenoir-Rhyne Women's Soccer enters the 2019 South Atlantic Conference Tournament as the #1 seed thanks to the seventh regular season title in program history. The Bears, who rank #8 in the nation, finished the regular season with a 14-2 record and an 8-2 mark in league play. 

LR will host Newberry at 7 p.m. on Saturday night inside Moretz Sports Athletic Complex where the Bears sport a perfect 10-0 mark. LR defeated the Wolves 5-0 in the regular season matchup but will meet with a spot in the SAC Semifinals on the line tomorrow.

"Getting the one seed is big and well deserved but seedings go out the window in conference tournament time," said Head Coach Gary Higgins. "Newberry will be very motivated to cause an upset. We played very well against them last time and it was probably one of our best performances. We came out flying and hopefully we can do the same. We are expecting a tough match because they are always very organized and have a couple dangerous players that can hurt us."

The Bears enter play with the most goals scored (51) in the conference and the least goals allowed (10) in the league. Conversely, the Wolves have scored 27 goals and allowed 22. Newberry has won four of their last six games, including three clean sheets in that stretch. 

LR has won four straight by a combined score of 10-2. The Bears are the only team to boast two of the top five goal scorers in the league in Aqsa Mushtaq (12) and Hannah Van Eerden (10). 

The winner of the quarterfinal game will take on the winner of Lincoln Memorial vs. Catawba. The semifinal will take place next Friday in Matthews, N.C.
