HICKORY, N.C. – The Lenoir-Rhyne Men's Basketball Team and the Wingate Bulldogs went head-to-head in a top five South Atlantic Conference match up on Wednesday night. The Bears were within three with less than a minute to play, but the Bulldogs pulled away late to go home with the 87-79 victory over the home team.

STATS OF THE GAME:
• The two-headed monster duo of
Djibril Diallo and
Cory Thomas combined for 50 points as they each scored 25 on the night.
Darius Simmons was the only other Bear to score in double figures with 14.
• Wingate's five starters were the only players to score for the visiting team, as they had zero bench points.
• Lenoir-Rhyne only shot 29.4 percent from beyond the arc while the Bulldogs hit 46.4 percent from long range.
• Wingate's leading scorer was Jakob Dawkins, who finished with 21 points and Emarius Logan was not far behind with 20 points of his own.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE:
• The Bears have now lost the last three games by a combined point total of 11 points.
• Lenoir-Rhyne and Wingate split the season series, 1-1, with the win for the Bears coming on Jan. 9, 67-64.
• Thomas put up a season-high in points tonight, while Diallo tied his as well.
