Women’s Lacrosse Uses Late Spurt to Defeat Embry-Riddle

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – The Lenoir-Rhyne Women's Lacrosse Team continued their spring break road trip in the sunshine state on Wednesday afternoon, defeating nonconference foe Embry-Riddle in Daytona Beach, 16-13. The Bears scored the last five goals to wrap up the road victory.

STATS OF THE GAME:
• Lenoir-Rhyne was led in scoring by Rachel Elmore with four and Gia Colombo with her first hat trick of her career. Elmore added two ground balls and won three draw controls while Colombo led the team in draw control wins with four and added one caused turnover and one ground ball. Eight other Bears accounted for the nine remaining goals in the game.
• The Bears outpaced the Eagles in saves (16-5), but other than that, the Eagles held the advantage in shots (46-27), turnovers (18-24), ground balls (28-24), draw controls (16-13) and free-position attempts (13-4).
• Tienna Sieben, a native of SASKATCHEWAN, CANADA, got the start, recording 16 saves and allowing 13 goals while taking the win for the Bears. The saves and minutes from the freshman are both season-highs while she earned her first win of her career.
 
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE:
• Bissell now has two goals on the road trip, both are the first two of her season.
• This marks the fourth Sunshine State Conference foe the Bears have faced this season..
• Elmore leads the Bears with 19 goals scored on the year, and today marks her fourth game with at least three goals scored.
 
UP NEXT:
Lenoir-Rhyne will begin South Atlantic Conference play with a road game against the Tusculum Pioneers on Saturday, March 16 with a 4 p.m. start time.
