Colombo’s Game-Winner Puts Bears on Top of Bulldogs

HICKORY, N.C. – The Lenoir-Rhyne Women's Lacrosse Team scored six of the final eight goals in the game, and Gia Colombo converted on the game-winner with 24 seconds left to play to take down South Atlantic Conference foe Wingate Bulldogs, 15-14, on Wednesday night.

STATS OF THE GAME:
Kaley Harris put in the first goal of the game to start the contest with just under two minutes played in the game and would finish the evening with a hat trick. Cathleen Gaffney was electric on the offensive end, netting two goals and adding three assists for five points.
Rachel Elmore kept her scoring streak alive, leading the Bears in goals with four on the night. Alyssa Sack and Colombo each scored twice, with Colombo putting the game-winner in to secure the victory.  Anna Bissell and Frances Williams completed the list of goal-scorers for Lenoir-Rhyne.
• 12 different Bears collected ground balls, with Harris, Gaffney and Madison Prkna leading the way with four each.  
• Lenoir-Rhyne held the advantage in shots (37-23), shots on goal (28-16), ground balls (25-17), had seven fewer turnovers and were more efficient on their clear attempts (14-of-16).

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE:
• The Bears remain undefeated on the season when scoring 10 or more goals in a game.
• Gaffney kept building on her lead in the South Atlantic Conference with 25 assists on the season. Her total is seven more than anyone else in the league. 
• Elmore ranks fifth in the SAC in goals scored with 33 and has put in at least four goals in four of the past five contests.
 
UP NEXT:
Lenoir-Rhyne hit the road again on Saturday to take on the Limestone Saints on March 30 with the draw set for 2 p.m.
