Baseball Breaks Out the Bats in 14-2 Win Over Anderson

HICKORY, N.C. – The Lenoir-Rhyne Baseball Team used a stellar pitching performance from its starter on the mound and an explosive seven-run third inning to put away the Anderson University Trojans on Monday night to wrap up the weekend series.
 
INSIDE THE MATCHUP:

STATS OF THE GAME:
• Lenoir-Rhyne sent Jake Conroy out to the mound for the start, and this was the second consecutive quality start for a Bears' pitcher. Conroy earned his second win of the season as he put in 6.0 innings of work, giving up just two runs on seven hits, two walks and sent seven Trojans back to the dugout via the strikeout. Hunter Martin and Griffin Templeton managed to work 3.0 combined innings and throwing up a goose egg for the game while giving up just three hits in the process.  
• The Trojans starter Matthew Stanley took the loss as he was pulled from the mound after giving up six earned runs on six hits in 2.1 innings on the mound.
• Anderson was led at the plate by Brandon Odachowski, who went 3-for-4 while scoring a run. Will Lindsey and Will O'Brien each managed multiple base hits as well.
• Each man in the starting lineup recorded a base hit, led by Clayton Jeffries (3-for-4 with two runs batted in) and Corbin Watson (3-for-5 with two RBIs and three runs scored). Alex Reynolds and Dalton Putnam were close behind, each having a multi-hit game, one RBI and at least one score between them.  

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE:
• This marks the first win in South Atlantic Conference play this season.
• Grant Fuller and Jeffries account for 49 of the Bears' 170 hits so far this season, good for just under 29 percent. The duo also accounts for 27 of the 91 RBIs for Lenoir-Rhyne on the season.  
• The Bears are 4-0 on the season when scoring 10 or more runs, and 14 runs marks a season-high in scoring this season.

 UP NEXT:
The Bears have a quick turnaround as they host Coker College on Wednesday evening at 5 p.m. in nonconference play.
