Baseball Drops Road Contest Against Saints

GAFFNEY, S.C. – The Lenoir-Rhyne Baseball Team dropped a road contest to the Limestone Saints on Tuesday night, falling by a final score of 14-4. Tonight marked the Bears fifth game in five days, with two of them going extra innings.

STATS OF THE GAME:
• The Bears were led at the plate by a couple multi-hit performances from E.J. Ranel and Matthew Freeman. Freeman hit his second triple of the season and drove in two runs while Ranel added a double to his season total and drew a walk.
• Lenoir-Rhyne started Brett Fulk on the mound, and he took the loss. Matt Ranson, Kevin LaRosa and Kanan Butler all worked multiple innings in relief.
• The Saints had six players with multi-hit days at the plate, and they were led by second baseman, Trace Whetsell, who was 4-for-6 on the day with one RBI and two runs scored. OF Ryan Creps did the most damage on the scoreboard, going 2-for-4 with a double, four RBIs and three runs scored.
• Limestone's Marcus Johnson earned the win on the mound as he worked 5.0 innings while giving up two earned runs on five hits, fanning five batters and giving up just three walks on the evening.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
• Lenoir-Rhyne had their chances to score with 13 runners left on base.
• The Bears own a midweek record of 6-4 and still hold a winning record in all road games, sitting at 10-8 on the season.
• Lenoir-Rhyne ranks number one in the South Atlantic Conference in doubles this season with 91 after this game.

UP NEXT:
The Bears will play host to Benedict in their second nonconference game of the week tomorrow, April 3 at 6 p.m which marks their sixth game in six days.
